the Sustainable Agriculture Initiative platform

SAI Platform is a non-profit membership platform working to advance sustainable agricultural practices throughout the global food and drink industry value chains, through pre-competitive research and collaboration.

For the occasion of SAI Platform's 15th anniversary conference and 2017 general assembly in Beijing, I was commissioned to review and revitalise the organisation's brand, member and stakeholder engagement, and communication activities.

Working with the Director of Strategy and Engagement and the Communications Manager, this involved introducing strategic communication and branding principles and applications to the organisation's Secretariat.

In addition, I managed the production of the 2016 Annual Report, and created a suite of bilingual materials (English/Chinese) for the conference, ranging from roll-up banners to field visit guides and working group factsheets.

The Abbey Theatre is Ireland's national theatre.

I worked with the Head of Communications to develop and implement a new strategic approach to the organisation’s annual reporting to support internal and external communication and engagement goals, as well as the organisation’s advocacy, development, and marketing strategies.

By working collaboratively with staff across all departments during the research and content building phase, I built the organisation’s internal communications campaign goals into the production of the 2012, 2013 and 2014 Annual Reports (produced in parallel). This approach delivered a strong sense of personal and inter-departmental involvement in and ownership of the project, making the re-invention of the organisation’s annual reporting process an unanticipated success-story for internal stakeholder relations.

the british institute of florence

The British Institute of Florence is a bi-cultural institution founded in 1917 to promote cultural exchange between Italy and the English-speaking world. It offers Italian language, English language and History of Art courses, and a programme of cultural events.

Joining the British Institute of Florence shortly after graduation, I created the post of in-house Graphic Designer and Marketing Assistant within my first year, primarily through introducing the concept of beautifully designed materials that would act as ambassadors for the brand and the organisation's rich academic and cultural programmes.

During my four years with the British Institute, I:

  • Designed and implemented branded communications across the organisation

  • Developed internal awareness of the importance and effectiveness of strong, distinctive, brand-faithful (voice and visual) messaging in the external communications of its different departments

  • Contributed to the recruitment and development of students and members into brand ambassadors and donors through consistent relationship building, as well as hosting events and making presentations

  • Researched, developed, marketed and supported the running of cultural courses and events.

  • Designed, copy-edited, proofread and delivered academic and promotional materials across the organisation (in print and online)

  • Liaised with the press to promote academic and cultural programme offerings

  • Created, launched and maintained an academic satellite site for the History of Art department
